Course Overview

This qualification has been created to develop and recognise the health coaches of today and the future, and to continue to bring recognition and professionalism to the health coaching and nutrition sectors. The Level 7 Diploma in Health and Wellness Coaching is designed for learners with an advanced qualification that supports their development as coaches within the health, wellness and nutrition industry.

The Level 7 Diploma in Health and Wellness Coaching aims to give learners the opportunity to:

• Provide learners with language skills, listening skills and the opportunity of being with another as a means to encourage and free clients to attempt health generating changes
• Enable learners to demonstrate proficiency in working from a comprehensive health history to design and implement personalised plans with clients
• Enable learners to demonstrate the skills needed to inspire accountability in their clients to adhere to goals
• Enable learners to demonstrate proficiency in question posing as a means to develop client self-awareness
• Enable learners to demonstrate proficiency in active, reflective and empathetic listening skills
• Teach learners to understand behaviour change and to demonstrate application in motivating others

For entry onto the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety qualification, learners must possess:

• A minimum of a Level 6 qualification such as the OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent Level 6 qualification; or
• An honours degree with relevant knowledge and experience in the occupational health and safety sector
• Learner must be 21 years or older at the beginning of the course

Applicants with substantial relevant professional experience will also be considered on a case by case basis.
Equivalences

The OTHM Level 7 diplomas on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) are at the same level as master’s degrees. However, they are shorter (120 credits) and learners will have to proceed to the dissertation stage (60 credits) with university to achieve a full masters programme.

Assessment and verification

All units within this qualification are internally assessed by assessors and verifiers at the Caribbean Polytechnic Institute and externally verified by OTHM. The qualifications are criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.

To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria. Judgement that the learners have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria is made by the Assessor.

For entry onto the Level 7 Diploma in Health and Wellness Coaching qualification, learners must possess:

• Relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• Recognition of Prior Learning may be applied.

Progression

The Level Level 7 Diploma in Health and Wellness Coaching qualification has been developed with career progression and professional recognition in mind. Successful completion of this qualification provides learners with the opportunity to complete the final stage (60 Credits) of a related UK Master’s degree.
